The Anda CBCRM Program


Program Objectives

· To develop a participatory, gender-sensitive research process for generating baseline data and information for enhancing the understanding of options for management of coastal areas and for mobilizing stakeholders to plan and implement sustainable livelihood options; 

· To examine and assess the prevailing community organizing concepts and practices employed in community-based coastal resources management programs and develop different means and approaches of community organizing addressing sustainable livelihoods, resource management and gender sensitivity;

· To identify and evaluate strategies for an ecosystem-based coastal resource management that enhances active participation of women and men in partnership with the local government and which will provide effective and bio-physically and socially sustainable means of coastal resource utilization; 

· To develop a sustainable livelihood system based on current resource assets and needs for subsistence and social services, through enhanced management of ecological integrity, increased productivity and social equity in resource access and use; and

· To integrate a gender-responsive perspective into the different elements of community-based coastal resources management and identify innovative strategies and processes in research, organizing and mobilization.
